April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?

Fitness Business Opportunity. A Post By Pat Rigsby

taxes April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?

One of my Mentorship clients – Justin Yule decided to use his 35th birthday and Tax Season to develop a great little promotion and offer a paid in full discount to his current members and his unconverted prospects.

Here’s what Justin had to say about it:

If you need to make a few extra thousand bucks fast for your fitness business, now could be great time.

While most people dread doing their taxes, a lot of people look forward to them because they purposely have more money taken out of their pay throughout the year so they end up with a nice “tax bonus.”

Take advantage of that and tie it to a big sale like “Save Even More with Your Taxes” or “Get the Best ROI on your Tax Return.”  Whatever.  Create a killer One Year Paid In Full Discount.

Compose a solid marketing email, add a personal twist if you can and send it out to your list.

I’m actually combining this with my Birthday Special.  I turned 35 on Saturday, April 3.  Here’s how I made it work for me.

- On the day before, I sent this email to my list:

Hey ~Contact.FirstName~!

Tomorrow is my 35th birthday!!

No, the number doesn’t bug me one bit. I’m actually ecstatic. I feel great. I’m in great health and only getting better. Plus, for some reason chicks dig the gray hair ;-b

Janell and I are having an awesome time on vacation in Arizona visiting good friends. I hope your week has been fantastic as well.

I’m celebrating my birthday here in AZ, but I’ve got a little gift for you over at the blog.

I’m looking forward to a great year with you!

The little gift was a downloadable in-home cardio workout.

On my birthday I sent this email:

~Contact.FirstName~,

OK. It’s for real now. I’m officially 35 years young!

Yup, YOUNG. Like I said yesterday, I feel great. I’m in awesome health: physically, mentally and emotionally. I’m stronger, faster and more fit than I’ve been in years.

I hope you enjoyed the little workout “gift” I gave you yesterday. If you’re not ready for it yet, don’t worry; you will be when you’re older…if you continue to follow my training and nutrition advice.clip image002 April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?

Today I’ve got an even BIGGER GIFT for you!

Check it out at (LINK) – I GUARANTEE you won’t see this again.

Can you guess what it is?

Have Faith & Take Action!

Justin

P.S. – I’m heading to the airport in a few minutes to come home from vacation. I’m not sad though, because I’ve got you to get back to. clip image003 April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?I can’t wait to provide you with awesome content and results producing programs this next year. 35 is gonna be the best year yet for me, and I plan to share it with you. Thanks again for being a reader and a fan.

The BIG GIFT was 35% off a one year paid in full boot camp membership.

THE RESULTS:

- 1 purchased immediately – that’s $1537 in my pocket, thank you very much.  New camper by the wayclip image004 April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?

- 2 current members committed to purchasing and will pay the balance when they get their tax return.  Well since that will be another $3074 in my pocket, I naturally agreed.

AND, that got me thinking.  On the 15th, I’ll send out another email with a tax return twist offering a special extension to that sale clip image005 April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?

If I just get one more – that will be a total of $6148 that I can put to work for me now!

OK – Pat here again.

Justin is a sharp guy.  We did a similar promo with our training business a couple of years ago and another tied to the stimulus checks the government sent out a while back.

Both generated us some much appreciated cash icon wink April 15th = Fitness Business Opportunity?

So take a look at Justin’s offer and give some thought to how you might be able to model it for your business – either around Tax Season or your Birthday.  Both great opportunities for promos.

But most importantly, Justin saw an opportunity, got creative and took action – and it worked for his fitness business.

It usually does.

    Pat,

Thanks for sharing that. It opens my eyes to “other” ways of marketing.

    Thanks,

    Brian

  3. Nikki Layton says:

Great post guys! Lots of good ideas to think about. For all you trainers up in BC and Ont. The HST is getting implemented for packages and memberships on May1st so you if your member purchase after may 1st they will have to pay 7% more on everything that is for use after July 1st. If they buy it on April 30th they will not have to pay the HST!

You have about 3 weeks to make a special offer to your clients for a big purchase and save 7% and it costs you nothing else….

    Just a thought.

  4. Pat says:

Yeah – Justin is great with ‘out of the box’ marketing ideas. I’ll push him to share more of his ideas;)

  5. Chris says:

Quick thinking, Justin. Nicely done. I’m gonna swipe this idea and modify it for my upcoming summer camps.
