I think the general feeling is that the 'BootCamp' is pretty much fading out, not because it's a bad product but because its got so diluted that the whole genre has seriously lost its way.

I'm ex forces and love the outdoors so thought that the Bootcamp direction was an obvious choice (back in 2005), albeit quite cliché. The service i offered included nutrition support, consultations and the service was based on small group sizes, non of that 30-50 people in a group.

It all worked very well until more and more people started jumping on the bandwagon, what was worse is that the lycra gym crowd would start presenting the classes and then every gym was running their Bootcamp (Logos with military stylised print etc)... i think the customer ultimately become confused as to what 'BootCamp' is.

So that was a serious dilution and then the daily deal site made it a joke, there are multiple bootcamps springing up every week designed specifically to run an offer, undercutting the competition and devaluing the service...

In my view, BootCamp done properly is a great way to exercise, properly is outdoors in all weather, with excellent customer support. However, as highlighted in this thread, bootcamps are rarely done properly, they try to cater to en-masse bargain hunters which results in amateur instructors with zero military experience giving dangerous workouts (While in their cammo kit and a bergen), often leading to customer injury.

In short, the bootcamp genre has been hijacked by the amateur short term trainer (Sad but quite true)

I now offer indoor style workouts in the outdoors on the beach, even now people think that any workout class done outdoors is a bootcamp ! this is due to the sheer volume and association of outdoor exercise = BC.
All my OutdoorsFitness clients receive extras such as monthly consultations, body MOT's, nutrition guidance and regular reports to demonstrate their progress...
It is more like close group personal training and marketed as such.

All fitness genres die off, the good trainers move with the times and offer fresh exciting services which are constantly developing.
