Fitness Marketing Timesaver #8 by Pat Rigsby:

One of the biggest time wasters you’ll ever encounter is the unfinished project.

You could spend countless hours on a half finished e-book, the almost ready new program that you plan to offer or smaller projects like incomplete articles, websites and marketing materials.

How much do any of these projects earn for you until they’re complete?

Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Unfinished business…the hidden time vampire everyone ignores.

How many hours have you wasted on things that you didn’t get done?

Want to instantly make your time more valuable?

Finish what you start.

As my good friend Dax Moy likes to say: “You Get Paid For Done.”

Craig Ballantyne is the personification of this. When most people are checking e-mail Craig is writing another article, finishing another product or making another blog post.

He disciplines himself to meet his fitness marketing deadlines and write each and every day – whether he feels like it or not.

And that, above all else, is what sets Craig apart from 99% of all fitness entrepreneurs.

So this week I have a challenge for you:

Get something done.

Finish a press release and submit it (Mother’s Day might be a good topic…).

Wrap up that product you’ve had half-finished for a month.

Launch that new program you’ve been thinking about.

Just get something completely done.

Don’t worry about making things perfect, or mulling over what fitness marketing system you should implement next. Just get things finished.

Dedicated to your success,

  1. “Git-R-Done”….LMAO…so true. I have no excuse of distraction now that I have office space to work in/meet with clients/hold meetings plus seminars in. There are a few things I have been procrastinating on. I have been cursing at myself for not doing one thing sooner. The niche idea is closing…so it’s time to handle it…NOW. I could have been getting paid on it. No excuses…Gotta get paid for done! Great post…using Craig as an example really illustrates the need for swift action. It shows a real live example of where you can be ( or could have been) if you push away more time wasting activities/people.

  2. I am going to get my first video recorded and uploaded to youtube.
Nothing major, but obviously more than i have done with videos up until now!

“only get paid for done” so common sense, but it needs to be said!

I procrastinated about starting another location for my Fitness camps, but I got off my butt and now we start on May 11th. I’ve ordered my equipment, trained my instructor and we’re now registering campers through my site and through my list.

The thing that kills me is that I could’ve done this 9 months ago and I could’ve been making money this whole time. I’m glad I got it up now, but man, do I kick myself for being so complacent about it in the first place!

It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to get going. Things may not work exactly like you want them to and I know that I’m going to have issues as we move forward, but issues come with money. I’ll take growing pains any day because if you don’t have growing pains, you aren’t growing!

As always a great point. As I look at my desk covered in things I need to get done! I think the thing I will get done is another training video for Volo. Better get at it!
    Have a great day!

    Pat -
I’ve done so much to move forward and those words of Dax are constantly reminding me (along with your emails) to just get things done. I wish I could see you guys at the FTFM, so I’ll have to have Rocco give you a hug for me! ;)

If your curious as to what I’ve done here’s the tip of the iceburg:

Written articles for three great blogs/magazines (Organic Lifestyle Mag., Fit Homeschool Mom, The Poor Chef).

Just posted some awesome video content and articles on familyfitnessguru.com (prepared to be blown away!!)

Lining up talks & all accompanying marketing for my Kidscamp summer fitness program.

And more (not done, will I ever get done??)

Pat, you’re the best!! All my best to you, Holly & Tyler. :)

Love this! Well, I finally got my weekly video broadcast of my workouts up and running, “Workout Wednesday-Live!” I am getting some really positive responses. Plus, my clients are using this as a cardio day so I don’t have to fuss at them for not getting their cardio in AND it gives me a definite workout day. So, I kill about 3 birds with one stone.

Next steps, set things up to promote WorkoutMuse and make money on this “Free” workout. I am already an affiliate and I have all the info from BJ that I need, so this week starts it off. Baby steps, but big money!

    Pat,

    Great post.

Just finished presenting all weekend in Regina, Saskatchewan. Did a talk on Saturday on “Beyond Training” building revenue streams other than just training more. (Second business talk I have done at a conference. Was cool but I think way over most peoples heads.) Went well. Sunday, spent the whole day teaching posture.

Home now and getting things done. A little lost with my list on what needs to get done. Focusing on three things:

    - finish off special report
    - work on tomorrows blog post
    - follow up with contacts from the weekend
    - develop more tasks for VA

WOW, this is so timely. I have been meaning to do a few things for months! Post my first video on youtube, and finish my e-book. Last week I did my first recording, voice over tomorrow and I will have it laid asap! now for the e-book, I am picking it back up off the shelf, and I will trade in my yahoo sports news to get er done! Good luck to everyone else who has posted.

  10. Alexander Morenitn says:

True. I’ve been guilty of this in the past.
My mane resolution for the year was to finish all projects that I start.
So far so good. I intend on keeping the momentum going until I die.

    Peace. :-)

  11. Ken Roetman says:

@zach even – esh – Well that will depend on how late you stay out the night before:)

  12. C-Money says:

    Excellent post!

  13. thanks Pat, I’m on the mothers day release right now!

  14. Adam Toohey says:

    Love Dax’s work…

It’s so true though… so many times we start stuff and then it dun get done… and as Mr. Moy says you don’t get paid for that.

Find a way to get things done… there’s a system out there that works for you… even if you create it yourself… 6F6 is always good :)
